What a top day here in Felixstowe – perfect weather – sunny and warm :) We started off biking to Felixstowe Ferry with our flask for breakfast on the beach and to watch the yachts sail out of the Deben. We then bumped into our friends Linda and Neil Hurrell out on their bikes and Neil suggested we go to the Ferry café and he would treat us to a cuppa. We had a lovely catch up as we hadn’t met up for ages before biking back to the Dip where Neils camper was parked by which time the breeze had filled in a little. So Mag and I returned home and had a nice chicken salad in the garden and I then loaded my trailer and headed back. It seemed that the breeze was building but I took a chance with my big kit and Neil and I had a lovely longboard beat to the River Orwell. There was just enough wind for me to rail the board nicely and get in the beating straps:) We were underpowered on the reach back and I ended up one and a half miles offshore, I then gybed and reached into the River Deben where the ebbing tide was again shooting out!!! I played with the kiters for a while before heading out to sea and beat back to just past The Dip to go for a mile run out to sea as the wind had picked up !!! I had a good run out and after about two miles actually broke the 20 knot mark before beating back to The Dip as the wind eased again. So another nice sail in the sun – top day :)
